The Challenge:
Wilson Equipment Company, a distributor and rental center for heavy machinery, needed a more efficient way to connect their remote offices in Corbin and Prestonsburg with the corporate office in Lexington. For several years, they had been connecting via a point to point leased line which was both slow and expensive. What this meant to Wilson Equipment Company was that they had no connectivity between their accounting and inventory departments in the remote offices with the corporate office. This contributed to time delays in processing accounts payable and the inability to have an accurate view of the current inventory. While not large enough to justify a full time IT person, Wilson Equipment Company nevertheless needed IT support for their approximate 40 users.

The Systems Design Group, Inc. Solution:
Systems Design Group proposed a Wide Area Network which would allow Wilson Equipment Company access to information in real time and provide connectivity between the offices.

Implementing a Wide Area Network, Systems Design Group was able to provide Wilson Equipment with a means to obtain fast and reliable up-to-date information between the offices. Accounting could be seamless and delays in transmitting invoices or waiting for payments were reduced. Inventory was streamlined to be more accurate and reduce inadvertent overstocking of items. Concurrently, Wilson Equipment Company also implemented wireless access. This allowed users greater flexibility in accessing company information with lap tops. Using these technologies, Wilson Equipment Company also retained the security necessary to provide confidentiality for their documents.
